A Question.

The act of creating art enriches the soul. Why then are there so many forces in society aligned against the act of creating art? Why is the budding artist branded an outsider? Often times a misfit of some sort? A fool. An outsider. Why? What force compels societal pressure against the artist? Who in their heart would want to deny a harmless activity which enriches the soul of the artist and possibly viewer?

There are many closet artists. Many who out of fear or shame still follow the compulsion to create yet hide their art in order to avoid the wrath of childish philistines. The need to create is almost universal in all mankind. And it may not require art. Man's ability for self expression may take the form of a useful product or a creative idea that embodies itself as a service. Creation then, artistic or otherwise, is an act of conformity not rebellion.

Then why is creativity so often discouraged?
