RoninKafka - Notes on the developing story.

"...he called it the Super Mind. A superior array of synaptic nerves and sensory genetics that could move from host to host through means that were still unknown. Currently it was thought to reside in the brain of Mr. Suko Khan. But by Kafka's questioning, more importanly, was it benevolent?"

Boz:
"...he said Boz was interdimensional. Could travel in between spaces and times. Said he was following the Super Mind through time and space. Wouldn't say why. Buzz figured it was kind of like a Deadhead following around the Grateful Dead all those years. Boz was an intergalactic groupie. A fanboy with an unlimited line of credit and first class e-ticket to the cosmic theme park. Said he met Boz in a place he called "The Room." Buzz found himself there after the accident - if it could be called that. He wasn't sure the whole thing wasn't some sort of set up. Anyway, when he saw Boz he didn't think to ask about his appearance. He just asked where he was. And Boz answered "You're in the Room."

The Super Mind:
Probably created as a result of some far flung future evolution of the human brain realizing its full potential to obtain, process and remember information as well as hone a superior reaction to its environment as a result.

Location: The Buried Mall
Huge construction project in the desert never completed in the 80s. Now buried a few feet below the surface so the Air Force could use it as part of a weapons test range. Similar to Area 51, rumors of strange activity have brought many curious seekers of the truth. Some claim that those who have dug into the ground and entered the structure have either never returned or come out as raving lunatics. Who knows what madness lurks beneath the surface? Many who enter the grounds have been scared away by nearby military weapons fire from mortars or cluster bombs. They say a sense of palpable, near maddening dread pervades the area. Some speculate the military is nearby not to test weapons but to guard against what may be trapped below the surface. Others say they have something to do with it.

MIB: Man in Black - he is driven to protect the Leviathan's secrets but he does not know why. He does not understand his robotic duty to the Leviathan. He follows orders and does not appear to question them on the surface. But on the inside his psyche becomes conflicted. Good and right is what he is told to do. He begins to suspect he is programmed in this way. He cannot escape the nagging feeling that his corporate masters are no longer right or wrong, but purely interested in a means to the end (which is often of immoral methods or outcome). He grapples with his inner conflict as he carries out his various tasks. He wonders if his partner, agent Hobbes feels the same way. But he dare not ask him.

He suspects at some point he may not be the person he is today. This feeling also haunts him. Sometimes in his dreams, he feels the palpable sense that he once lived another life; or perhaps is living a different life in an alternate reality. He knows such things are possible. It is part of his job to discredit such ideas.

Leviathan (The State) In Christian terms can mean man's united allegiance against God or a satanic creature. Also the philosopher Hobbes name for the perfect nation state. Or giant whale, it's name connotates massiveness. In this story it is referred to in place of the government. It is the primary authority. Its dealings are byzantine as should be appropriate for any Kafkaesque story.
