Disappointment
My trip to the Biltmore Estate resulted in few pictures due to my lapse of memory. I forgot my memory card and was unable to find another in time for the tour. In fact, I am upset that I went into the trip so unprepared. I had no backup personal backup camera, not even my 35mm SLR. All of which could have been solved if I had kept all my gear in one bag and grabbed it. It’s indicative of my diverted attentions lately to other projects. Additionally, the urge to create has been missing for a few weeks now and I was hoping this trip would help in sparking my output once again. I’m not too worried about this, it’s only a matter of time before some other visual item I see gets me back into the zone again. I am pleased with some of the low rez pictures my girlfriend’s camera allowed me to afford of some shots at night and around the estate. I’m working through them now and will of course post them here when ready.

a reason for existence
Ripping my CD library to my laptop has become a daily activity hampered by my laptop’s tendency to overheat after about 10 CDs and shut down. At this rate plus the incoming CDs I buy to feed my music addiction I may never complete this project. It has become self perpetuating. My reason for existence.
Purchased today:
Groove Armada: Best of
Orbital: Blue Album
Junkie XL: Saturday Teenage Kick
Soundtrack: Glen Garry Glen Ross
Sandra Collins: Cream
Synaethesia: Collection (do you know how freaking rare this is? What a find!)
Alice Deejay: Who Needs Guitars?

Strategy
Current read: Harvard Business Essentials: Strategy
I’m reading this in relation to another business venture though the lessons taught here ought to be applicable to the artist. In fact, strategy should be a major consideration for every artist.

John Foxx
Picked up The Garden and
Foxx was the originating member of the seminal Ultravox in the late 70’s/early 80’s who helped to break ground on the lush pop euro-romanticism that came to define the scene and still reverberates within pop music to this day. Foxx’s pop sensibilities later morphed into the experimental audio/visual art project Cathedral Oceans which spawned 3 editions along with a book of 38 of John’s photos. Foxx is of course little known to the mainstream and it’s just as well. It makes appreciating his music and art all the more special.
